I went to a Turin Brakes concert on Friday night, and stood, like a knackered zombie, bobbing along to the other complete fanatics. Don't humans act odd if they like something? its as though they have to prove to themselves and others that they are the biggest fans, and as if the more dreamy you look while singing all the words, the more you appreciate the music. It might be true to an extent, but some of it must be pretentious shite. Or I'm just cynical.

Anyway- Turin Brakes are fantastic, with beautifully constructed lyrics which are whimsical and gritty. They sing about stuff like nearly drowning as a kid, and being hauled out by the head. And like every great artist, they have a stalker song. Sung in crazy two part harmony that clashes and resolves like honey and lemon (actually more like Whiskey lemon and honey. They've got a bit more oomph.)

A video- like a nod to Sigur Ros*- it has that sad stillness.
And using beautiful kids playing in slow motion, which is always a creepy.

Dark on Fire video. Its worth 5 minutes of your time, although its not their best song, it is their best video.

anyway- there be a post about Harold and his purple crayon brewing.
*Glósóli, and Viorar Vel Til Loftarasa. if you have the time, theyre just beautiful.
